Theme 2 Low Carbon Design Strategies and Renewables Energy
The Second Newton training event will take place at the University of East London (UEL) in March 2018. The overall theme of the programme is Low Carbon Design Strategies and Renewable Energy. The training will provide an in-depth understanding of low carbon technologies covering the technical design aspects, embodied energy and capital and running costs incurred when integrating strategies and systems into new and existing buildings.
The training sessions will comprise lectures, workshops and specialist software training; Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES-VE). Guest speakers from the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), UK Green Building Council (UK GBC) and Building Research Establishment’s Academy are invited to run specialist workshops. Lectures are also facilitated by experts from UEL and the University of Strathclyde (UoS). Site visits to Eden Project Cornwall, and office visits to Foster and Partners, as well as Rogers Stirk Harbour Architects are planned to link low carbon design principles with practice.
