Theme 3 Resource Efficiency for Smart Cities
The third training programme is planned to run in September 2018 at the University of East London. The overall training theme is Resource Efficiency for Smart Cities. The aim of the programme is to promote sustainable and efficient urban development in diverse geographical and socio-cultural settings. The programme incorporates state-of-the-art case studies of smart buildings and cities to illustrate the resource efficiency approaches to design cities with minimal environmental impacts. The programme will also emphasise technological innovations for smart cities and buildings.
The training sessions will comprise lectures, workshops and specialist software advanced training; Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES-VE). Invited experts from Zedfactory and the Building Research Establishment (BRE) will join UEL and UoS academics in delivering workshops. Informative site visits showcasing smart building design in the UK will also be integrated. Those will include a visit to BRE Innovation Park, The Crystal: A sustainable cities initiative by Siemens, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and visits to Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM), to appreciate smart cities design by resource efficiency.
